Scuba Diving Courses
Guanaja offers some of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean. With little to no current, our calm blue waters offer an ideal training environment. Small class sizes or private training ensure you can learn at your own pace and never feel rushed.
Much of your training will take place on our roomy dive boats. This enables you to spend time with an enjoy most of the same dives as your traveling companions.
Scuba Tuneup
If you’re feeling a bit rusty on your scuba skills, or a bit nervous about getting in the water again, it’s best to take a quick refresher. This class consists of a brief lecture going over basic Do’s and Don’ts followed by a short pool session practicing the most critical skills such as mask clearing and regulator retrieval. Our NAUI instructors will get you in the water, having fun and feeling comfortable again so you can thoroughly enjoy your dive vacation.
Discover Scuba Diving
If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. This is a fantastic way for those with little or no experience to enter the wonderful world of scuba diving in the beautiful waters of Guanaja. The course consists of a brief knowledge review going over some basics and then practicing skills in the swimming pool. After lunch, you’re off on the afternoon boat for a 1-tank boat dive to a maximum depth of 40 ft under the supervision of your instructor. If you enjoyed the experience, you can take additional dives a second day for $125.00 for the 2-tank morning boat dive or $75.00 for the afternoon 1-tank boat dive. And guess what? You can even apply certain parts of the course toward your Scuba Diver Certification!
NAUI Scuba Diver Certification
The NAUI Scuba Diver Certification Course is the first step in becoming a certified, recreational diver. The course consists of three main phases: Knowledge Development (via eLearning) to understand basic principles of scuba diving, confined water dives to learn necessary scuba skills and open water dives to use your skills and explore! Spend less vacation time in the classroom and more time in the ocean when purchasing the eLearning from us and completing that portion of the course at home before arriving!
Open Water Completion/Referral Dives
This course is for students who have completed their class and pool training with their local dive shop before traveling to Guanaja. This is a great way to get to know divers in your own community before heading our way with your Student Referral Letter to complete your open water dives in our clear, warm water.
Enriched Air / Nitrox Certification
The chances are that you’re taking a dive vacation because you want to spend as much time underwater as possible. Nitrox is the perfect way to extend your bottom time. This course is so popular that it’s been streamlined when purchasing the NAUI eLearning Module so that you can get the academics done ahead of vacation.
Advanced Scuba Diver Certification
You don’t have to be “advanced” to take this course – it is the course itself that advances your diving, so you can start right after earning your Scuba Diver certification. The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives.
Rescue Scuba Diver Certification
Expect the unexpected! Safer divers know how to prevent and control problems before they happen. This course runs you through all of the “worst-case scenarios” possible. Believe it or not, you will have a lot of fun while you’re practicing! This is the most rewarding scuba diving course that you will take. Use your pre-vacation time to study the academics via the eLearning Module and save vacation time for the practical aspects.
