Ensuring Comfort and Convenience for Guests with Disabilities

2026 is the year we committed to making Guanaja a premier, world-class destination for adaptive diving, and Clark's Cay a barrier-free resort where every guest can independently navigate, enjoy, and experience all we have to offer.

Our 2026 infrastructure overhaul at Clark's Cay so far includes:

  • Building four ADA-Compliant Suites integrated into the heart of the resort, implementing Universal Design principles to provide premium comfort and independent mobility for adaptive divers.  These mobility-accessible cabañas feature wide entryways, turning space, accessible-height light switches and electrical outlets, an accessible-height kitchenette area, and adapted bathrooms with low-mount sinks, grab bars, and roll-in showers.
  • Upgrading our 4 1/2 acre footprint to ensure that our barrier-free hospitality extends beyond the guest rooms to include all recreational zones.
  • Designing special ramps for transferring guests from the Ferry Dock to the Clark's Cay transfer boat.
  • Designing ramps for embarking and debarking the dive boats at the Resort.
  • Creating all new paved paths connecting all key common areas (gift shop, restaurant/bar, wellness center).
  • Building a low-arch paved bridge to the infinity pool.
  • Installing 3 lift systems so that adaptive guests can access the waterpark features, including the lazy river, infinity pool, and hot tub.
  • Fitting our Newton dive boat with a sling-hoist lift system to accommodate adaptive divers.

We have had the good fortune to have representatives from the Dive Pirates and the Dive Heart organizations visit and critique our efforts. We are grateful for their feedback and will continue to fine-tune anything needed to ensure our visiting adaptive divers have the very best vacation experience.
